Busy, Busy!
August 2nd, 2005As noted on my last posting, last week was a busy, exciting week.
On Thursday, the walk-through went just fine: We got to our new home, we met the owners (now previous owners), we visited with them for a little bit, and then we left.
On Friday, the closing started at 8am… everything went well. Trace, my dad and I got quite ‘hydrated’ that night, celebrating the event. =)
Starting on Saturday, the hectic part (though exciting) of owning a home started: remove wallpaper, remove wallpaper, remove wallpaper… once I was done with that… I had to start removing the wallpaper’s glue!!! In this case, not the previous owners but the ones before had the nice thought of applying the best cement on earth… I don’t think a tornado could have gone through that glue… It was just annoying!!! =)
We decided to go to Home Depot and get a wallpaper steamer… It really worked. You have to be very careful though: If you heat up the wall paper too much, then you end up peeling the drywall… and that is by no means good news.
Trace started applying that Suede-looking paint in our bedroom… It looks quite nice!! But she says (and I believe it) that it is a pain in the neck to take care of that.
Long story short: tons of work… but we are getting there!
