MozillaZine published an article about a Trojan Horse being distributed as a Windows executable, then it embeds itself onto Firefox as an extension.
The virus doesn’t take advantage of any hole or flaw on Firefox, as it allows execution because it is coming from the host OS (Windows)
“…(It) captures information entered into the browser, including, but not limited to, passwords and banking details, and sends them to a remote computer…
To check for infection, Firefox users are advised to examine their list of installed extensions (accessible from the Tools menu as the Extensions item). The unexpected presence of “Numbered Links 0.9″ indicates a possible infection.”
Be careful!

This is the very first post I ever publish about politics, politics that have nothing to do with geeky things. I won’t be doing this very often because I try not to debate politics and religion… they are “Byzantine Discussions” and while they cause a lot of fire, they end up with very little agreement… So that’s that.
A co-worker and friend sent me an article about how was Germany doing back in the 1920’s, and comparing it to what we are going through as a Country:
“It seems there are election campaigns going on all the time, and they are increasingly vicious. The politicians just want to argue about moral issues — sexuality, decadent art, the crumbling family and the like — while pragmatic matters of governance seem neglected.
Sound familiar? That society was Germany of the 1920s — the ill-fated Weimar Republic. But it also describes more and more the political climate in America today.”
I hope I got your attention, now I strongly recommend you to read Brian Fogarty’s article.

Back in the ‘Free Napster’ days Metallica was always the enraged band against downloading music… Remember Napster Bad? Remember Lars Ulrich giving a humongous list of Napster users to the federal government so they could be prosecuted?

Their ideal business model was to make their fans buy entire albums, they didn’t like the idea of people buying single songs… It was not good for business… oh… really??? Says who???
Well… they caved in.
“Over the last year or so, we have seen an ever-growing number of Metallica fans using online sites like iTunes to get their music. So…we are now offering fans the opportunity to obtain our songs individually.”
It’s good that they are doing this “because of their fans”… oh yeah, money is good too!

Yesterday, Apple Insider posted a story about a new Apple Bluetooth mouse that had been approved by the FCC.

The new Mighty Mouse now sports laser technology, so it is highly accurate if compared to optical mice. Optical mice are set to 400-800 dpi, and laser mice are set around 2000 dpi: the more dpi, the better. Also, laser mice work on almost any surface; optical mice will have a hard time on shiny surfaces and on surfaces with certain colors.
It is now being distributed through the Apple Store (Retail and Online) for $69.
Sweet.

ATI has been officially acquired by AMD.
While this is a big step for AMD, I wonder what the implications are for the end user that DO NOT have AMD implementations on their PCs… or on their Macs.
I don’t know how big the impact will be on Apple because all their non-Intel Graphic Adapters are ATI on all Intel-based Macs.
