Now… THAT’s what I call music
April 3rd, 2007Blur, David Bowie, Sarah Brightman, Kasey Chambers, The Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Enigma, Gorillaz, Iron Maiden, Norah Jones, Nigel Kennedy, George Harrison, KoRn, Kylie (Minogue), Lenny Kravitz, Massive Attack, Moby, Pet Shop Boys, Pink Floyd, Placebo, Iggy Pop, Radiohead, Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones, St Germain, Joss Stone, Tina Turner, UB40, Keith Urban, Robbie Williams… and the list keeps going and going…
These artists will be part of the DRM-Free Revolution. EMI Music has announced that they will start providing high-quality DRM-Free downloads via iTunes starting in May 2007.
The 256-kbps tunes will cost 30% more than the current 128-kbps versions… But hey, at that bitrate, plus having the option of downloading the low-bitrate version, I think it’s a fair deal.
I certainly hope that all other music labels (Universal, Sony BMG, Warner Music) follow EMI Music’s example.
