So I go and get something from the little store downstairs.
I am thinking I should get some gum or lozenges.
I suddenly see this brown Altoids box.
Dark Chocolate Dipped Mints.
Don’t think about it twice, so I go and checkout.
Walk back to my desk.
Open the package.
Put one in my mouth.
WHAT THE HECK!!
Hot Tamales taste all over my tongue.
Read the package closely, the red CINNAMON sign is disguised by the brown box.
WHO IN THE WORLD CALLS A CINNAMON LOZENGE A MINT??????
I am very disappointed.

This story anything but new, I just read about it and I thought it was very cool, so here it is:
Back in 2004, this Canadian guy living in Scotland named Matt was traveling in Japan. He took a photo and uploaded it to Flickr and titled it ‘Mystery Girl in Harajuku‘.

A few weeks later, a friend of the so-called ‘Mystery Girl’ spotted the photo (what are the chances!!!), and recognized the tattoo on her shoulder. This person told ‘Mystery Girl’ (a Flickr user living in London known as CherryVega) about the photo and she contacted Matt and presented proof that she was indeed the one kneeling down to take the photo of the performers.

After two years, they are still together.
“Still together, just a few days over two years now. [...] I was walking back from the Meiji Temple (you go through the square at Harajuku) and thought “Now that’s a good picture”. The Wired article was pretty much spot on, apart from the fact I’m a Canadian living in Scotland, and not Scottish as reported, but that’s a pretty forgiveable mistake, I think.” -Matt
How cool is this?
PS. Matt, thanks for letting me post about this.

All right… Trace and I watched almost the whole game. We don’t even know the names of the players… heck! we learned on Sunday that Indianapolis was Chicago’s opponent. =)
I must admit that the first 16 seconds of the game were fun to watch, and made us (wrongly) predict that Chicago would beat the Colts.
However, while commercials throughout the past few years have been not-overly-funny (thanks to censorship and wardrobe malfunctions), here’s the shortlist of the ones I liked the most:
- Carrrrne Asada
- Snickers
- Fist Bump
- Rock Paper Scissors
- Great Apes
- Check-out
- Drag the Mouse
- Reception
- Class Mencia
- Dalmatian
- Hitchhiker
- King Crab
- Doritos flavors
YouTube has a list with all the ads.
Which one did you like the best?

Jason Kottke recently posted a link to a video that puts things in perspective… in a graphical perspective.
“Le Grand Content examines the omnipresent Powerpoint-culture in search for its philosophical potential.”
But, the video is inspired (and appropriately giving credit) by Jessica Hagy’s way of looking at things.

Simply put: outstanding.
